Pallet Racking for Peoria, IL Parts Warehouses
Peoria is about 73 miles north of Springfield, and much of its warehouse space exists because of heavy-equipment manufacturing. Parts distribution and aftermarket storage fill a lot of buildings, and those inventories are wide: tiny fittings, boxed components and long, heavy assemblies under one roof.
So the answer is rarely one rack type. We pair pallet rack with carton flow for small-parts picking and cantilever rack for long material, often inside older buildings with lower clear heights.
Getting More From 14-18 ft Clear Buildings
Pioneer Industrial Park on the north side, around Allen Road and Pioneer Parkway, is a long-established warehouse district. Older buildings there run about 14-18 ft clear. At that height every inch counts, and beam spacing decides whether a bay holds three levels or four.
We measure real load heights, then set beam elevations with just enough lift-off clearance. In a low building, carton flow or shelving above a pallet level can turn dead air into pick faces.
Parts Picking and Long-Load Storage
Aftermarket parts orders are small and frequent. Carton flow lanes put fast movers at a fixed pick face and restock from the back aisle, so pickers are not climbing or reaching into deep shelves.
Shafts, tubing, frames and other long pieces do not belong on pallet rack beams. Cantilever arms hold them with no front posts in the way, and a forklift or side-loader can reach any length.
- Pallet rack for boxed and crated components
- Carton flow for small, fast-moving parts
- Cantilever for bar stock, tubing and long assemblies

Rail, River and Interstate Sites
Allen Road Business Park covers 55 light-industrial acres served by the Pioneer Industrial Railway short line, about a mile from Union Pacific, with TIF, Foreign Trade Zone and Enterprise Zone incentives. Medina Plains, 254 acres next to Route 6 about 6 miles from I-74, has an on-site rail spur.
The region also has five Class I and six short-line railroads, I-74, I-474 and I-155, and the Heart of Illinois Regional Port District on the Illinois River. Moving into one of these sites? Our warehouse relocation crew can bring your existing rack along.
Slotting Aftermarket Parts by Velocity
In an aftermarket building, a small fraction of part numbers drives most of the picks. Those belong at waist height in carton flow or on the first beam level, nearest the pack stations. Slow movers go higher or deeper.
We ask for order history and use it to place SKUs, then size lanes from case dimensions. The result is shorter walks for pickers and fewer trips up a ladder.
Planning Around Peoria Weather
Older north-side buildings are often unheated at the dock and not air-conditioned anywhere. In January, crews work in short shifts; in July, they start at dawn. Spring storms can roll through quickly, so steel gets staged indoors when we can manage it.
