Pallet Racks in Springfield, IL
Selective pallet rack is the backbone of general distribution: one pallet deep, an aisle on each face, and every load reachable without moving another. It is the right starting point for most Springfield warehouses, where SKU counts are high and orders mix many items.
Most buildings here are older 16-24 ft clear stock, from the light-industrial tilt-ups in the Springfield Industrial Park off I-55 to the 1970s-1990s buildings along North Dirksen Parkway. Getting more positions out of that height is what we do every week.
Sizing Beams and Frames to Your Loads
Beam capacity starts with your heaviest pallet, not your average one. A 48 x 40 pallet of canned goods and a pallet of packaging film need very different beams. We size each level to its real load, so you are not paying for steel you do not use.
Frame height follows clear height and forklift reach. In a 20 ft building with standard loads, four beam levels are common. In the newer 28-36 ft clear distribution buildings along I-55 and I-72, the forklift usually becomes the limit before the roof does.

Selective Rack Across Springfield
On the north and northeast side, newer last-mile distribution is going in along Sangamon Avenue near the I-55 / I-72 junction. Those buildings turn product fast and need short travel from dock to rack. On the west side, the dual-rail industrial site near the I-72 interchange draws users who receive by rail and ship by truck.
Around town, the same rack shows up in very different buildings. We plan it for Chatham last-mile space, Lincoln rail-served warehouses and Decatur 3PL buildings near the inland port.
How a Pallet Rack Project Runs
Send the basics
Building size, clear height, column spacing, pallet sizes and weights, and forklift type.
CAD layout
A drawing with pallet position counts, aisle widths and beam levels.
Itemized quote
Frames, beams, decking and accessories listed line by line.
Install
Crews set out the layout, stand and level frames, and anchor each one to the floor.
Installing Through Springfield Summers and Winters
Most warehouses here are not air-conditioned. In July and August, crews start at first light and stage steel out of the sun. In winter, snow and ice can delay a steel truck on I-55, so we keep slack in the schedule. Moving buildings instead? Our warehouse relocation service moves the rack you already own.
