Cold Storage Rack in Beardstown, IL
Beardstown sits on the east bank of the Illinois River about 45 miles from Springfield, at the junction of US-67 and Routes 100 and 125. One of the state's largest pork-processing plants is here, along with feed, grain and transportation businesses.
That mix means cold storage. We plan cold-storage and freezer rack plus selective pallet rack for meat-processing, feed and ag-supply operations.
Freezer and Cooler Racking
Meat processing needs cooler and freezer space, and that space is expensive to run. Every aisle removed is volume you stop chilling. Drive-in rack and pallet flow rack both store deep, and pallet flow adds first-in, first-out rotation.
Low temperatures and condensation are hard on rack. We specify components meant for cold rooms and plan install crews around limited time inside the freezer.
Feed and Ag-Supply Storage
Feed and ag-supply businesses store bagged product, seed and parts, often with heavy pallets and seasonal swings. Selective rack keeps each SKU reachable during the spring rush, with room to stage overflow on the floor when needed.
- Selective rack for bagged feed and seed
- Heavier beams for dense pallets
- Floor staging held for seasonal peaks

Planning Install Work in Cold Rooms
Installing rack inside a running freezer takes planning. Crews can only work so long in the cold, and every door opening costs temperature. We stage steel just outside, work in short rotations and coordinate with your team so product moves only once.
If the room can be warmed for install, the job goes faster. If not, we plan around it.
Hot Summers Outside the Freezer
Outside the cold rooms, many buildings have no air conditioning. Dry storage for feed and supplies gets hot in July. Crews start early, and we keep the hottest work for the coolest hours.
Pallet Condition in Processing Plants
Processing plants go through pallets fast, and damaged pallets cause problems in deep rack. A broken bottom board can catch on pallet flow rollers or drive-in rails. We size systems with your pallet type in mind and recommend which zones need better pallets.
In freezers, wet pallets can freeze to rails or decking. Deep systems need clean, dry pallets to work smoothly.
Selective rack is more forgiving of pallet condition and works well for dry storage.
River, Rail and Air
Beardstown has BNSF mainline rail service, river frontage and the Greater Beardstown Airport about 3 miles from town. A riverside grain terminal handles barge, BNSF rail siding, truck and containerized shipping.
That much inbound means staging space at the dock. If an operation is moving to a new building, our warehouse relocation service can move rack in phases so production keeps running.
