Drive-In Pallet Rack in Springfield, IL
Drive-in rack lets the forklift drive into the bay and set pallets on rails, several deep and several high. It gives up selectivity in exchange for density, which suits grocery and cold storage warehouses holding big lots of a few items.
In a freezer, where every cubic foot costs money to keep cold, drive-in is often the first system we look at.
Cold Storage and Freezer Density
Removing aisles from a freezer is the fastest way to cut the space you cool. Drive-in lanes store pallets deep with one entry aisle. We specify rack rated for low temperatures and plan around condensation near doors.
Install work in a freezer takes planning. Crews work in short rotations, and we stage steel outside the cold room.

Grocery and Food Distribution
Grocery distributors carry some SKUs in very large quantities: seasonal items, bulk staples, promotional stock. Drive-in holds those lots deep. The rest of the building stays in selective rack for everything else.
Drive-in works best when each lane holds one SKU and pallets are in good condition. Damaged pallets can catch on rails.
Where Drive-In Fits Around Springfield
Food and ag storage in the Springfield Industrial Park and on the west side near the I-72 dual-rail site often runs deep lots. Outside town, we plan drive-in for ag-processing and 3PL buildings in Decatur, food plants in Jacksonville and cold storage in Beardstown.
Winter cold makes unheated buildings and docks hard to work in. We plan installs around that. For a move, our warehouse relocation team can bring your drive-in rack along.
